A Busy Saturday = A Good Weekend
Saturday morning didnt start off with a bang for sure. Things progressed – we will say – a little slowly. Around 8:00 I headed over to my parents house to pick up the mitre saw and then came back to my house. Kevin had just waken up and we decided to rest a little more before we got the day started. Around 12:00 we finally got going and started to continue working on the future office.
Bobby came over about 2 hours into the work as he was going to Athens with me a little later on that afternoon. We continued to work for about another hour and a half before I had to get ready to go to Athens. Kevin was not coming with us so he headed home. We got some excellent progress though in that 3 and a half hours. The office looks excellent and it is not even done yet.
After Mike got there and I got done getting ready Bobby, Mike, and I headed up to Athens to see Dan. We had planned to tour the Terrapin brewery and then head to my favorite Athens bar / restaurant – Copper Creek. We met Dan at his apartment and headed out to Terrapin.
The Terrapin tour was really cool. Basically you walk into a warehouse, pay 8 dollars for which they give you 8 4 oz beer coupons and a souvenir glass and they send you over to the other room where you can sample the beers they make and take a free tour of the brewery. It was MUCH larger than the last brewery tour that we took (Thomas Creek in Greenville). Terrapin is a craft brewery in Athens and is sold in states between GA and MD and has some very well known year round beers plus some very highly regarded seasonal and one time brews. When you get inside there are two lines to get a beer as well as one outside where they have a live band play. The place was packed! It was really insane to see how many people were there. It was actually really busy. The tour was also great. The tour guide was very informative and entertaining which was a huge plus.
After Terrapin we headed over to a bar called Trapeze which was a nice coffee shop that was turned into a restaurant / bar and served all of the different kinds of beers that I enjoy. They had a HUGE beer list, most of which were rare. We all ordered a Wake and Bake from Terrapin on draft but Dan and Mike had a tough time stomaching the extremely dark and heavily coffee’d stout. Me and Bobby loved every sip and even took donations from them as they struggled through their glass. After grabbing a drink there we headed over to Copper Creek. I LOVE this place. They have such great beer – which they brew on site- and the food is excellent as well… plus you get the awesome Athens price of ….. $2.50 beer! Hell yeah! We grabbed some great food and beers and had to head back so that we could make it to Laura’s birthday party at Matt’s house.
We dropped Dan off and headed back towards home and made it to Matt’s house in plenty of time. As we walked in Matt was carrying Laura’s birthday cake already lit up the stairs. He started messing around like he was going to drop it on the steps and laughed the rest of the way up stairs. As we are walking through the Kitchen singing happy birthday Matt had a special moment and just flopped the cake right on the floor! It was hilarious!!! We stayed for about 2 hours and then headed back home to get some much needed sleep.
What a great weekend this turned out to be!
