Yesterday we had a few visitors over to the house to check in on us and to see our little Preston. Bobby came by in the early afternoon to hang out for a bit. He brought Alisha a very thoughtful gift and stuck around for a bit just to catch up. With us having Preston and him being busy at work we have not had much time to catch up. He had to head out before long but it was great to see him for a bit.
Mike and Aubree had planned to come by last night as well and bring us some dinner (thanks guys!!!). Aubree and Kaitlyn came by earlier and then Mike came straight from work. We had La Cazuela which Mike picked up on his way home and watched some Intervention for a bit. I LOOOVE that show BTW… I am addicted to drug addicts LOL. Baby Kaitlyn was SOO cute when she saw Preston for the first time. She started smiling and going nuts when she was next to him. It was sooo cute!
It is crazy how big she has gotten in the 7 months she has been around. I cant believe little Preston is going to grow so big so fast!
Man in two of these pics, the guys on TV look like they are looking at Alisha, Aubree, Kaitlyn, and Preston LOL – kinda creepy!
Monday night I was heading home from the office and on my way to the gym when I got a hell of a phone call. It was an offer for two tickets to the Atlanta Hawks game at 7:00 that night. I could not turn them down! Ever since going to that last game, I really have been more into basketball and was really eager to go back. This sounded like an excellent idea for a Monday night. I made a phone call and got a hold of Mike and he said he was in. We met down towards his office and rode into the city together. Traffic kinda sucked a bit but hell… it is worth it. We parked headed over to the arena and then ate dinner…. where else but the Taco Mac inside of the arena. We had a few beers and some dinner and then headed to our seats for tip off.
It was a GREAT game. The Hawks were not looking so hot for the first three quarters. They could not hit a shot to save their lives for a while, but what matters is that final score and they pulled it together in that fourth quarter. They brought the game within 4, then 2, then tied… then went up by 3… with less than a second to go.. the Trailblazers sink and three to send the game into overtime! ugh!!! so close!! In overtime the Hawks were still on their A-game and pulled off a great win to rack up another W and lead the Eastern Conference. Great game and great times.
The only negative to that game is that it has totally made me exhausted all week. It is so worth it though!
On Friday night we had a chill night and just headed over to Mike and Aubree’s house to hang out. We grabbed subs on the way over and just chilled. Talked, watched tv, played around with Baby Kaits, and relaxed.
Last Friday night we headed over to Mike and Aubree’s house to do dinner with them and Jamie who was in town from Boston. He flew in for an extended weekend and we had made plans to head to dinner out in Canton and then chill back at Mike and Bree’s house.
We got to their house at about 6:00 and then headed out to Provinos out in Canton for some good Italian food. We had a great dinner and then headed out to Walmart so that ladies could shop. This is when the night became the best ever! I found ….. Rice Krispy Treats Cereal!!!! I was in heaven and quickly picked up three boxes of it. I was so stoked! I had not had this in sooooo long and it was one of my favorites when I was younger, but have not seen it in years!
After Walmart we headed back to their house to hang out. We spent time, hanging up some curtains, watching some basketball, and just talking. It was a great chill night with great friends.
On Saturday morning we woke up and headed over to IHOP in between exits 7 and 8 to grab breakfast with Mike, Aubree, and Kaitlyn. After stuffing my fat face with far too many pancakes, hashbrowns, eggs, and bacon we headed up to see Mike’s dad. It was great to see him doing so well. As you may know, they are like family to me… hell, they were a second family for about 6 years of my life and I owe them lots for everything they did for me during that time and it continues all the way until now. They are some of the most geniune and sweetest people you will ever meet and I am glad to see them all doing so much better.
After hanging out for several hours, Mike and Bree headed up to her parents house and we headed home to spend time with Envy before going out for the evening. After spending a few hours with Envy and watching a bit of the Atlanta / Detroit preseason game, Dan came over and we headed off to Ashley and Kevin’s house for the night to celebrate Grant and Allyson’s upcoming wedding in Florida. Alisha was invited to Allyson’s bridal shower while the guys chilled downstairs until it was over. We had a great time. I spent a lot of time hanging out with Allyson’s and Grant’s dad talking about everything from sports to beer to sex. We really had an excellent time! They were a riot! Allyson, I love your dad… he was a ton of fun. I have known Grant’s dad for Y-E-A-R-S now so catching up with him was equally great.
We spent the evening hanging out with many of our friends. It was a great time and we were glad to be a part of it. Unfortuantely, I did not grab any pictures as I was just chilling and when I did shoot some, I was using Amber’s camera.
On Friday Aubree was out shopping with Alisha… surprise, surprise. They went out taking advantage of the tax free holiday as well as the sales to purchase baby clothes. Alisha decided it would be great idea to purchase clothes for a boy AND a girl…. I didn’t quite see the same logic LOL
After dropping Ryan off, we headed to Mike and Aubree’s house to spend the evening over there. We bought some stuff to grill out and just chilled. Abe jr is in town so Mike, Abe, and I headed off to play tennis for a few hours before heading back to the house to chill with the ladies.
It was great to see Abe again. He looks great as he has lost some weight. As always, we had a great time with the Sassos! Kaitlyn is getting SO big already! She is so cute!
Many of you ask Alisha and I how Mike and Aubree are doing especially now that they have baby Kaitlyn. Well, Aubree started up a blog so you can now see for yourself On the right hand side of the page is a link to other friends blogs including Mike and Aubree.
On Friday evening we headed back over to Mike and Aubree’s house to spend time with them and Kaitlyn. Shortly after we showed up Krystle and Phil came by too. We had a great relaxing evening grabbing ice cream from the ice cream truck, grilling out (steak mmmm), having a beer, talking, and watching some tv. It was a nice way to put an end to a busy week.
We watched some awesome shows as the evening wound down. We sat Cocaine Nation where they were doing drug busts, talking about how bad people ruin their health and lives on it, and all kinds of facts about it. After that was some other cool show followed again by Meth Nation! We watched about half of Meth Nation before watching the Man vs Wild episode with Will Ferrell. It was actually really funny. We ended up leaving around midnight to head home and catch a few hours sleep before Saturday’s planned day. Alisha passed out before then with Kaitlyn as you can see above LOL.
We had a great relaxing time with the Sassos and Lyerlys Friday night.
On Sunday we headed back up to Mike and Aubree’s house to spend some time with them and Kaitlyn. I also needed to get out there anyway as I left my car keys at their house on Friday night… yeah I know, I cant keep hold of those damn things. LOL
We hung out for the afternoon just having a chill day and keeping them company. We spent a good part of the day playing with Mike’s new phone, the Palm Pre. It is really really nice! I have always hated Palm phones, but they did a great job with this one!! The day just flew by and before we knew it, we were heading back home to mentally prepare for another manic Monday.
I know a lot of you have been asking for pictures of Kaitlyn so here they are: PICTURES!
We do have more, but many of them (such as just after birth pictures) don’t need to be posted on the internet. So if you would like to see more pictures, just ask us when you see us.
Yesterday at almost 11:00 AM Kaitlyn Avery Sasso was born at the Forsyth Northside Hospital. Alisha headed to the hospital at about 4:30 AM and stayed with them and Aubree’s mom.
I will be holding off on posting any pictures until Aubree posts them. Once she does, I will upload the ones that I have.
Mike and Aubree, we are so happy for you. It must be the best feeling ever to have your first child in your hands. Congrats!!!
On a funny note, when I was being grossed out by the delivery process that Mike was telling me about (I have NO clue how I can going to handle that), I asked him if he kept the placenta for the placenta pancakes (if you have never seen or heard of this, click here: you have to watch it all!!!). He said well it kinda hit the floor. So I said, they wouldn’t save it for you? He said, apparently there is no 5 second rule with placentas. I died laughing. And I am laughing while I type it. Good one Mike LOL! Aubree laughed and asked how I am going to survive it and I said that I will have Mike on stand-bye and tag him in when that time comes, then when the baby is born, he can tag me back in. I cant watch Envy get shots, how the HELL am I going to be there for a birth??!?!
About two weeks ago Alisha and Aubree got together to do a mini photoshoot for Aubree and her coming baby. They took a sheet and just draped it over our bed posts and used that as a backdrop for the pictures. There are nearly 1000 so I am not going to go through them all to post them, but if you are friends with Aubree on Facebook you can see some of her favorites there.
On Friday Alisha and Aubree got together to do Aubree’s most recent photo shoot starring her growing baby.
The pictures came out very nice! Alisha used the curtains in the room, a white sheet draped over our bed posts and other creative ideas to make a nice little “shoot”. I’ll let Aubree post the pictures first – I guess I need to get them to her before that can happen also
Last Friday night we headed up to Mike and Aubree’s house to grab some dinner and chill with them. We were not going to be able to see them for the rest of the weekend and had not been out that way in quite some time.
Aubree was craving Longhorn and as you know, pregnant women win when it comes to food None of us had any objections so we headed out there and had a great dinner. The wait was a little lengthy, after all it was a Friday night and it was Valentines weekend.
We had a great dinner and then headed back to their house to relax and talk. Alisha and Aubree had some great fun with Max as they tortured him as you can see below:  Mike was not a huge fan of putting Max through so much misery so the girls made sure that he was out of the room before starting the fun.
Friday was great and just a start to our packed weekend.
Saturday was setup to be a busy day!In the morning the guys had planned to play some tennis while the Alisha and Aubree shopped away at a neighborhood garage sale.Tennis was a blast!Kevin, Mike, Matt, and I had a great time and really enjoyed getting out and playing 2 great sets of tennis.Me and Kevin lost 6-3 6-3 but it was still a bunch of fun!
After tennis, we headed up towards North Point Mall to go to Beer Necessities, the local homebrew store.I needed to buy some lactose (for my stout I am brewing) and a part for my bottle washer. After grabbing those, we headed off to Ruby Tuesday at North Point Mall to meet up with Matt and Laura who were about to head to the mall to shop. We ate lunch and chatted for a while and then we headed back to my house where Alisha and Aubree were hanging out to chill out for a few hours before heading out to Uncle Shucks.
We planned to get to Uncle Shucks around 7:00 so that we could be sure to make it out of the mazes in time for the hayride. As we did last year, Mike and I took a look at the map at the entrance and then headed into the maze. Our goal was to simply find our way out of the maze before the girls could without a map at all.On our way in we ran into a mom with a group of girls that thought that it would be a good idea to follow us through the maze…. Until we told them that we did not even have maps.:crackup:Mike explained that since he designed the maze, he didn’t need a map to get out. They quickly changed routes and went on their own.We ran into them a few more times and found out that we were now named Roberto and Juan which we found very fitting.
As we expected we beat the ladies out of the maze… by more than 20 minutes! In addition we beat the girls out of the maze as well by at least 15 or so.They were dumbfounded to see that we really did make it out without a map on our own.It turns out that the ladies ran into the girls as well while they were in the maze as well and even took some pictures.
We went on to start the second maze which was significantly longer than the first. The ladies said that we cheated on the first one because we did not go to each of the six checkpoints like they did… funny… we didn’t even have a MAP!So we reluctantly agreed that we would hit each of the six checkpoints WITH the map this time and we would still beat them out of the maze.We tore that thing up!!!We ran into the younger girls in the beginning of this maze and they had already gotten to 2 of the checkpoints and we were just starting. They were very excited to know that they were going to beat us on this one.We kicked ASS in this maze and made it out about another 10 – 15 minutes before Alisha and Aubree. They insisted that we cheated but I assure you it was 10000% legit. We just kicked ass! While we were waiting we also saw the girls come out of the maze.We beat them too even though they had a 2 marker lead on us.
After the maze, the four of us got together and took pictures with the girls for memories and then headed on to the hayride. We bought some hot chocolates and some funnel cakes and rode through the bumpy ride to the camp fires.
It was a bunch of fun!We all really had a blast. Can’t wait to do Burt’s Farm next month!
Last Sunday we went out with Mike and Aubree to Dahlonega to go tubing. Before we went to the river, we decided to picnic out by a lake near the college. Upon getting their, the ladies decided that they did not like the area and that it was not covered so they wanted to go back to the tubing place to eat at their tables. I remembered that there was a picnic table and a gorgeous view at the top of Blood Mountain….buuuut kinda misjudged how far it was from the lake
After our 30 – 40 minute car ride across 60 and then up the mountain we arrived at tables I was referring to. It was MUCH cooler up there. Seriously, it was at least 10 degrees difference. The area was beautiful. It was a gorgeous overlook that was a stop on the Appalachian Trail. We ate the lunches that we packed, took a few pictures, and then headed out to go tubing.
We got the the tubing place and lazily took our time down the river. Alisha and Aubree were together the whole time and took turns sharing rafts, floating beside each other, navigating down the river. They even got creative as we walked back to go down again and found some plants to use a ropes to tie to each other’s tube. As me and Mike assumed, it did not quite work.
We had a great time taking pictures and relaxing down the river. It made for a fun and relaxing afternoon in the sun. Next time we are all going white water rafting!!!
After lounging down the river, we headed over to Alisha’s parents house for some dinner. We ate some delicious home-cooked thin crust pizza (SOOOOO GOOD!!) and then headed back to the house to mentally prepare for the work week ahead
